Does Starbucks Use Special a Type of Coffee Or Espresso Maker?

Starbucks is arguably the most famous cafe in the world. They are best known for the flavourful blend of coffee they make. Many people have been trying to imitate the taste of the coffee they are brewing but failed.

What is special about their coffee anyway? Do they really use special kinds of brewing gears to produce that great result?

The answer is, no they do not. What they are using are random commercial coffee and espresso machines. However, they have taken careful considerations on what features should be incorporated in the coffee machines they are buying. This is because they value the efficiency of their machines.

The flavour is in the whole mechanism of the coffee machine and also the barista. We know for a fact that espresso is a tricky beverage to make in the first place. It takes careful mixing and producing of the cream and careful timing to produce a smooth and flavourful result.

You can actually copy the taste in order to save yourself the additional expense of going to Starbucks everyday. Go look for an ideal coffee maker first. The market is pretty much replete with all sorts of brewers. It is advisable to get your own coffee machine and your own grinder. Nothing beats freshly ground coffee immediately brewed to perfection.

If you are looking for an espresso machine, you should consider how efficiently it really makes espresso. You might want to look for a machine assimilated with at least 9 bars of pressure as this will produce really smooth coffee and crema.

Make sure you also purchase the pump driven brewers. This type of machine is used by other cafes. You can check out Williams Sonoma as they also sell fully automatic machines.

You should also consider the brand of coffee beans you are buying. Starbucks made it easier for us to copy the flavour of the coffee they are brewing with their line of coffee grounds. The caveat is, they are generally more expensive than other gourmet coffee sold in the market. However, if you are using one cup coffee machines, this is a better choice.

Some machines allow you to tweak its settings. You can experiment a little with the amount of ground beans you are putting and the right machine strength. You should also purchase those machines with shower head as this extracts more flavour than those with none.

Starbucks Target Market and Management

Originally when Starbucks began they targeted the young college students, with slightly higher than average income levels. After this initial target market Starbucks has since realized that they could target specific neighborhoods and social classes. Different customers are more willing to pay for luxury good now more than ever. With that in mind, through Starbucks aggressive expansion techniques they have begun targeting almost every demographic.

"McDonald's is planning to capitalize on the public's willingness to pay for a cup of coffee by hiring baristas and dropping espresso machines in 14,000 of their fast-food outlets. Meanwhile, Starbucks, with business lagging, is fighting back with an "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" strategy, by offering heated breakfast sandwiches and adding drive-through windows to some of their locations." (Tancer, 2008)

As McDonalds and other chains realize the money in luxury coffee more companies will begin to enter the marketplace. One the other side of the spectrum you have the small local coffee bars that were around before Starbucks took over the marketplace. These smaller coffee shops have their core customers who will not give their business to anyone else. These smaller coffee shops can offer specialized products and services or serving to the local markets needs. However Starbucks has a much larger buying power then the local smaller coffee shops giving them a competitive advantage. Coming back to our original quote, we believe that McDonalds has a customer base that is extremely large that now has the option to get their coffee where they get their breakfast already. McDonalds also has an extremely large bargaining power and runs each franchise with impeccable automation. McDonalds cup of coffee costs a lot less money than Starbucks and tastes the same in a lot of cases. One of Starbucks biggest competitors is the economy; Starbucks provides a luxury good that will be a good that people cut out when they want to save money. This has been witnessed with the recent closing of over a hundred Starbucks stores.

Tancer, B. (2008, January 10). Brewing Battle:Starbucks vs. McDonalds.

Starbucks Tests Wireless Mobile Charging in 17 Stores

Video Clips. Duration : 0.98 Mins.

Starbucks Tests Wireless Mobile Charging in 17 Stores

Gone soon may be the days of fighting for outlets and rummaging for power cords. Starbucks plans to test technology in Boston that would allow customers to charge cellphones wirelessly using the Duracell Powermat system. The coffee chain plans to build the Powermats into tables, which would allow equipped wireless users to charge their devices inductively. Though an accessory is required to take advantage of the technology, Starbucks might loan some to patrons over the counter if the test takes off. For now, the innovation will be available in just 17 stores in Boston, but a Starbucks executive seems enthusiastic about its prospects. Adam Brotman told Boston.com that many customers already put their cellphones down on tables, so the company hopes to provide the service automatically, "maybe even before they realized they had a need for wireless charging."

Making Iced Coffee- Tips And Tricks

Coffee Starbucks

Starbucks Iced Coffee Recipe Versus All Other Iced Coffee

Hot coffees are hot-brewed, but if you want to make iced coffee the way it was made when it was started, then you have to cold-brew the coffee. Yes, you read that right - You do not need to heat coffee if you want to make an iced coffee. All you need is a special pot, cold water, and coarsely grounded coffee beans! Or if you prefer try the starbucks iced coffee recipe below and you can be the judge.

o Pour the cold water in the pot.

o Put in the coarsely grounded coffee beans.

Other Ideas for you to try:

o Put some of the coffee you've made in the freezer and make ice cubes out of it.

o Try adding a bit of sugar syrup and a little chocolate flavoring.

o Top off your iced coffee with a generous helping of whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a flake to really impress your friends- they will think you are an iced coffee expert or an employee of starbucks coffee house!

What will happen is that the cold water will extract the coffee flavors but will not extract the bitter compounds and the fatty oils that are present in the beans. This means that the iced coffee, which is made, will have less acid content than what it would have had if it were hot-brewed. Coffee made using this method was originally called iced coffee. This method was invented in 1962 by a chemical engineer, Todd Simpson, and his company is still around today (It's called Toddy Products).
If you choose to make iced coffee using the hot-brew method, then you must get the coffee into the refrigerator once it reaches room temperature. If you allow it to get colder than that, then it may lose its flavor.

Starbucks Iced Coffee Recipe:

There are more than 13,100 Starbucks stores in the world, spanning 40 countries. The stores all sell drip coffee, espresso drinks, tea, blended drinks, coffee mugs and other accessories. Interestingly enough, the prices found at Starbucks Coffee are significantly higher than the market average. The higher prices are a direct result of their ingenious marketing strategy.

Starbucks Coffee - The History and Background of Starbucks Coffee

Moving beyond beverages and coffee mugs and makers, Starbucks has started an entertainment division that features the Hear Music brand. Selling books, music and film, the brand is developing into something much larger than a Venti Frappucino.

Founded in Seattle, Washington in 1971, the company began growing exponentially. During the 1990s, a new store was opening somewhere in the world every single working day. This continued into the new millennium, however domestic growth has since slowed down quite a bit. Abroad, however, the brand is still expanding rapidly.

Starbucks Coffeehouses began to give consumers a different kind of feeling about drinking coffee. Even employees, called partners, get a different kind of experience than one a regular barista would expect. Between two and six partners are working at any given time.

Coffee Masters are partners that have gone through extensive training in tasting, roasting, purchasing and growing regions. The company offers full benefits to partners, including vision, health and dental insurance. Stock option grands are also available, as is 401k with matching to employees who work 20 hours a week or more.

In 2005, Starbucks was rated the 11th best place to work in the United States by Fortune magazine. The same can be said of the UK stores, which were voted among the top ten best places to work by the Financial Times in 2007.
